Of Nails for Sale
Dear Nerophytes and jewelry lovers, what think we of Cartier's latest reissue, the Juste un Clou collection, originally designed by Aldo Cipullo of Love bracelet fame? Though Nero bends and bows to anything spiked and gilt-y and can certainly cop to the clou's edgy leanings, I'm on the fence at present and not sure this sexed up nail can ever one up the Love's iconic chastity belt-inspired screw and its accompanying itsy-bitsy driver. How would you readers weigh in? Is it too reminiscent of Gucci's Chiodo collection? And priced higher than the basic Love bracelet, does this piece hold the same staying power or is it more of a pointy provocation -- a one hit wonder, as it were? Do you believe it offers sufficient bang for the buck, folks, or is a blue thumb all we'll have left in a season or two? Expound away. That is to say, discuss.

I think they're just trotting out the next "must-have" for sorority sisters and upscale mall rats who've tired of the Peretti's hearts and beans, the Love bracelet and those goofy diamond-encrusted keys.
Maybe to wear a day or two could be fun, but I don't think it's a timeless piece or worth the absurd price. Plus there's nothing really romantic about your husband buying you a nail ;/
Hi there Raina,
Indeed, I think you'v hit the nail on the head, as it were.
This promo appears to be the new, "limited release" type teaser that the young fashionistas line up for.
Alcira
Chau Vicky,
Indeed, "buying a nail" doesn't have quite the romantic ring to it that "getting screwed" does ;P
Cheers, Alcira
You know I suck at accessorizing, but I might enjoy this more as a wee pendant. Whatever the form, I wouldn't pay what they're asking unless it was made with moon dust or something. ;)
Howdy Candita,
I imagine they'll unveil some sort of ring, earring and pendant form in short order. Though I have to agree, less bang for the buck here I feel than with the other more iconic Cartier collections.
Cheers, Alcira
This model is a no-no for me : ) Apart from having no aestetic, also it is so uncomfortable with the edges and all, imagine how many clothing you can destroy with it! But you know I would love love love the LOVE ones, if not bracelett, I am fit for the ring too : )))
intense. love them!
