Of Yoga-try and Words to Live By

We turn to yoga for symmetry and tone. For mental clarity, perhaps. But beyond the practice and the process, lies the poetry. These pearls are the latest gleaned by Nero as our instructor muttered meaningful mantras and we perspired profusely, stretched out in pliant rows, elated, prostrate -- a roomful of bent-but-not-yet-broken body/souls begging to absorb. And so I share these tidbits here below, for what use are pearls if they're not strung together and passed on? Om.

"Promise yourselves that you will refuse to brutally vandalize your bodies this year."

"Let your breath speak quietly, so that your body knows its soft intentions."

"Gain awareness of those small unnecessary movements -- those 'little needs' -- that rob time from our breathing. Readjusting one's clothing, pushing back a strand of hair -- let us consciously let go of these insignificant, wasted gestures, and give ourselves over to breath."
