Of Getting Chewed and Finding a Comfort Zone
Yesterday, Nero received one of the most side-splitting yet tragic text messages from a friend. It read something along the lines of: "Aaarrghghgh! The dog just ate my Lanvin flats!!!" And while Nero could certainly sympathize, and felt only pangs of compassion (never schadenfreude, mind you), it instantly occurred to me that "The Dog Just Ate My Lanvins!" would make for a superb title for a debut novel, soon to be followed by a rip-roariously chic television series. But I digress.
Similarly, the Celerie Kemble-designed room below, much like a pair of lovingly chewed on Lanvin flats (in a ballet nude, btw, RIP), would still maintain an air of comfort and finery despite a little impromptu wear and tear. So go ahead, fair Nerophytes, today reach for that special place, that imperfect, cozy, lived-in comfort zone that only warms with time, with use, with a little nibble around the edges.

Oh this space! B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L...so sorry about the flats, heart breaking!
I tried to find that image in a higher res a few weeks ago with no luck...thank you!!!! Adore this space and you're right- a perfect title for a book!
Oh indeed it would! I am a horrible person, I had a puppy for three weeks once but gave her away, I couldn't cope with the rug chewing, the furniture scraping, I'm too house proud to have a dog. Not a good trait but that's the truth.
Hi there Amanda,
True, the now-defunct flats are a real loss -- especially with three little ones and a Disney trip on the horizon for her.
Alas, she'll have to seek comfort in some other form of footwear.
Methinks the space, however, could be redeemed despite a little shedding and teeth marks.
Cheers, Alcira
Dearest Beej,
It's a good one ;)
Cheers, Alcira
Dearest Fab Tab,
Don't berate yourself -- even with two caged parakeets, a six year-old boy and a hubby who loves nothing more than to shed his clothes and belongings wherever they fall, I don't think I'd have the fortitude for anything freewheeling or four-legged.
Cheers, Alcira
Alcira,
This is such a beautiful room. The colors seem to blend so well and as you said, it has that worn feel that I think, makes it very charming. Hope you're enjoying your weekend!
Thank you for your comment about my bathroom!
