I am also completely in love with the wood dresser and the entire vignette created with the painting. I think the room needed that piece to ground it and add a bit of substance and history. It's quite beautiful and soothing, isn't it?
I thoroughly agree with you, without the warmth of the antique chest and the bookcases and curiosities, the space could've read a bit showroomy.
Artful editing and choice accessorizing really do make a space, I believe.
